Episode 3: The Bonds We Make
Looking at Leo there, kneeling like he needs my permission for anything, is crazy. Most likely, he is putting on an act in front of everyone here in the pack hall. I looked down at him and placed a smile on my face, “My dear brother, if you and Christan are fated mates and he truly doesn’t want to honor the promise we made to each other, I am okay with that. We each can be able to find our bonded partners.” With that said, Julian walked past Leo and went straight to Levi, “Father, I wish for Levi and me to be bonded. I believe we are fated mates as well; how auspicious that we two brothers find our fated mates.” The look of pure malice in both Leo and Christan’s eyes was comical. It would appear that neither of them wanted me in Christan’s life, but they also don’t want to see me happy either. I find it all funny and a little sad, but I don’t have time to think about that because, right as I register the happiness in my father’s face, Levi drops to his knees and presents me with a moonstone ring.
For me, it’s the right thing to do, but Leo looks so pissed I can see his face turning purple, the story isn’t that he and Christan made this big stand for being fated mates and choosing each other now; the story will be that they both waited until now to bring up that they are mates even though they have been around each other several times and could have brought it up not only back then but in private. Meanwhile, everyone knows I have been around Christan and the pack and would rarely have a chance to see Levi here or outside of our pack territory, but also he doesn’t usually come to gatherings where all the packs around go, so we would not have had the chance to meet. Unlike Christan, though, he brought a mating gift here to be given to his mate is he ended up with one. Christan, at the very least, should have known he was either going to give a gift to Leo or to me, but still decided to come empty-handed, which is more telling about the man and mate he is going to be than anything. Father looks between us two boys and loudly laughs and claps his hands. “Good, good. Since you both have found your mates, we will hold both mating ceremonies in 7 days. Go back to your homes and prepare for your mating and marking ceremonies.”
