Episode 2: Mate Selection
When I opened my eyes, I was back in the meeting hall with our father’s pack, getting ready to choose which Alpha we would each pick as our mate. In my past life, I picked Christan the Alpha I grew up around. He wasn’t my fated mate, but we had chosen each other because we loved each other. The plan was that if we met our fated mates in the future, we would reject them. I didn’t find out Leo was Christan’s fated mate until after my death. They found out the moment Leo came of age. Neither of them told me; it would seem that Christan wanted his cake and eat it too. He liked and maybe in his own way loved me, but he was weak and couldn’t reject Leo. Plus, I figured he also liked the feeling of having both of us vying for his love. Getting the heir, plus getting Leo, who stroked his ego whenever he wanted. Leo had the habit of acting weak and defenseless, making Christan live out his savior complex. I looked around the room, and the guy that Leo picked was across the hall. He had this look on his face that said that he knew Leo was going to pick him; he just had to wait for it. My eyes moved past him and skimmed the crowd, and my eyes landed on Christan for a brief second. I don’t know what he saw in my eyes, but before anyone could say anything, he stepped toward my father. “Alpha, Leo is my fated mate. I would like for you to bless the two of us.” The room quiets; they all know that Christan and I have always said we were going to be each other’s chosen mates and reject our fated bonds if they came around. I could feel all the eyes move to me, including my dad, waiting for me to freak out about it. Just when I was about to say something, someone walked in who wasn’t here the last time. When he walked in, the scent of the forest and rain the mixture was so intoxicating. Levi was the Alpha from the neighboring pack, and I had never really been in the same room as him, which is probably why, after I came of age, I never knew he was my mate.
Right when I was about to walk over to Levi, Christan and Leo came over to me holding each other. When they were right in front of me, Leo dropped to his knees, with tears running down his face. “ Julian, I know you and Christan were going to bond, but we are fated and truly are in love.”
