Share a proverb you think is completely wrong and make your case.

This is one that popped in my head and its completely wrong because yes sticks and stones can break your bones, but also words do most definitely hurt people…. i dont know who or what this became a thing but yea no…. also its like how the elbow is the funny bone but when you hit it that shyt hurts so bad you dont feel like laughing at all…. lol

I actually think there’s a lot of truth in what you’re saying. Broken bones heal, bruises fade, but some words stick with people for years—sometimes for a lifetime. It’s funny how we’re taught “sticks and stones may break my bones, but words will never hurt me,” when most of us can probably remember a cruel comment from years ago more clearly than a physical injury.

And your funny bone example is perfect. Whoever named that thing clearly had a twisted sense of humor because there’s absolutely nothing funny about smashing your elbow and feeling that lightning bolt shoot down your arm. Sometimes the names we give things and the sayings we repeat don’t match reality at all.

Maybe the better lesson isn’t that words can’t hurt us, but that we should be careful with them because they can.
