What’s a moment that made you question reality?

….. after my mom passed away I thought I saw her i think a few weeks after we held the wake. Like I literally followed the woman until I confirmed it wasnt my mom. I cried n had a panic attack after that,  after that I did the group counciling at school n worked out my complicated feeling. That day though I was questioning everything for how ever long it took me to see that it wasn’t her.

I would like to start off by saying my condolences. That sounds like an incredibly jarring and painful experience, but I want you to know that what you went through—often called “searching”—is actually a very common part of deep grief. Your brain was essentially trying to find a way for the world to make sense again by looking for a familiar face.
The panic you felt makes so much sense because, in that moment, you had to lose her all over again. It’s really brave that you took that terrifying experience to counseling; working through those “complicated feelings” is exactly how you heal from a shock like that. Please be gentle with yourself.
