The Council’s ruling had been clear, but trust wasn’t rebuilt overnight.

Kai and Caleb spent the following weeks traveling between allied packs, speaking directly to elders, healers, and warriors. They listened to concerns, answered questions, and most importantly—let others speak.

In Silverpine, an elder named Maelis stood before her pack and shared her story.

Maelis: “I was a child when the last Guardian walked among us. He didn’t command. He comforted. He didn’t dominate. He healed. When his power was trusted, the packs united. We fought back the darkness together. But when fear took root… we fractured.”

Her voice trembled. “Don’t let fear win again.”

In Hollowshade, a retired Alpha named Ren spoke of his father’s bond with a Guardian.

Ren: “My father said the Guardian’s presence was like standing in sunlight after a storm. You didn’t question it. You felt it. And you knew you were safe.”

Testimonies like these began to shift the tide. Kai’s power wasn’t just tolerated—it was remembered. Revered.

Back in Stoneclaw, Caleb and Kai made the move official.

They packed up Caleb’s house—photos, books, the worn couch they’d fallen asleep on too many times—and moved into the Alpha wing of the pack house. The rooms had been occupied by Caleb’s parents, but after a long conversation, they agreed to relocate to the east wing.

Caleb’s Mother: “We’ll give you space. You’re the Alphas now. We’ll support you—but from a respectful distance.”

Kai smiled. “Thank you. We want to lead, but we also want to honor what you built.”

The move sent ripples through the pack. Some were surprised. Others relieved. But most saw it for what it was: a new beginning.

The Alpha and his Consort weren’t just symbols. They were present. Accessible. Real.

The scouts returned at dawn.

Jacob met Caleb and Kai in the war room, his face grim.

Jacob: “They made contact. No words. No aggression. Just… watching.”

He placed a sketch on the table—tall wolves, cloaked in ash-colored fur, eyes like polished stone. No scent. No markings. No emotion.

Kai’s Wolf stirred. Not with fear. With recognition. They are not lost. They are sent.

Kai: “They’re testing us. Measuring. We need to be ready.”

Caleb nodded. “We’ll double patrols. And we’ll send a message: we’re not prey.”

Sierra wasn’t done.

She released a new wave of misinformation—this time targeting Kai’s gatherings. Edited footage showed wolves crying, trembling, appearing “broken” after healing sessions. The narrative: Kai’s power was invasive. His influence unnatural.

She leaked a fabricated report claiming Ash had relapsed, that his wolf was unstable again. That Kai’s healing was temporary—and dangerous.

Sierra: “If they won’t strip him of power, I’ll make them fear it. I’ll make Caleb question it.”

She sent anonymous messages to packs on the fringe, stirring unrest.

Sierra: “The Guardian is a myth. The Consort is a lie. The Alpha is blind.”

Her obsession had become a crusade. And she was just getting started.
